A Sam’s Club delivery driver was arrested after 14 generators disappeared from the store in Lady Lake.
Eduardo Argenis Morales Pereira, 33, of Belleveiw, walked into Sam’s Club, 755 N U.S. Hwy. 27/441, to fulfill an online order as a delivery driver at 12:55 p.m., March 16, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
He then selected a $429.98 EcoFlow battery generator from a display and put merchandise from the online order all around and on top of the generator to hide it from view. It was not part of the order, and he left the store without paying for it, the report said.
The business was unaware of the theft at first and only realized it after noticing the generator was missing from the display. The store managers began reviewing surveillance footage for suspects, which was when they recognized Morales Pereira as one of their “Spark” delivery drivers.
