Former stakes-winning jockey Nelson Arroyo’s transition to pinhooking has been a major success, culminating in a standout performance April 15 at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale. His sharp eye for talent and relentless work ethic paid off in a big way, most notably with a Life Is Good colt (Hip 312) that commanded $725,000 from KP out of the Britton Peak consignment.
Arroyo purchased Hip 312 as a yearling for $275,000 at the 2025 Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
“I loved him from the second I saw him,” Arroyo said. “He was a big horse who moved real light; he was real light on his feet. He had all the right angles and he just had that presence.”…
