A resident of Lake Sumter Apartments was arrested for shoplifting a total of $185.10 in items from a Walmart in The Villages.
A loss prevention officer reported 42-year-old Shaquita Shontaye Hicks for stealing from Walmart at Sarasota Plaza in The Villages on March 20, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon reviewing the store’s surveillance footage, he saw Hicks enter the store with a shopping cart and leave with $114.71 worth of stolen merchandise. She had gone to a self-checkout register and scanned only 17 of 37 items, the rest of which she hid under several plastic bags. She then walked out of the store and proceeded to a black SUV parked near Lake Medical Imaging, the report said.
Hicks committed another theft on April 1, when she repeated this process with $70.39 worth of goods. She again walked out and left in a black sedan, the report said…
