Former student armed with gun shows up at Central Florida high school

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A Central Florida high school was forced to act on Wednesday after a former student showed up with a loaded firearm, according to the school district.

In a release, district officials said that the incident happened at Mainland High School in Daytona Beach. However, it all stemmed from another encounter around two weeks ago.

At the time, the former student — a 16-year-old boy — tried to re-register at the school, but when a school resource officer tried to make contact, the person fled the campus, the release shows…
