Son arrested after showing up at dead father’s house in The Villages

A son was arrested after showing up at his dead father’s house in The Villages.

Officers were called at about 10 a.m. Monday to a home in the 1600 block of Bayhill Drive in the Village of Orange Blossom Gardens on the Historic Side of The Villages where they found 55-year-old Charles Weiss III, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Weiss, who is homeless, had previously been banned from his father’s home. In 2024, he was arrested after an altercation which prompted his father to flee the home and seek refuge at a neighbor’s residence.

When police found Weiss at the home on Monday, the New York native claimed that his father “verbally” promised that after his death, Weiss could return to the home. The father died on April 28. Weiss also claimed that his father said Weiss and his sister would become co-owners of the home. Weiss did not have any documentation to support his claim…
