Virginian banned from social media after threat to kill Central Florida sheriff

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Virginia man will be barred from using social media after he threatened a Central Florida sheriff via Facebook, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

In a release, SAO officials announced that the man — identified as Jacob Devan, 21 — had threatened to shoot and kill Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey using Facebook messages.

Some of the alleged messages sent to Ivey from Devan’s account on June 14, 2025, are as follows:

  • “I will kill you and your family.”
  • “I’ll shoot you till you won’t breathe anymore.”
  • “I know where you live.”

Investigators said that a warrant for Devan’s arrest was obtained shortly thereafter, and his mother drove him from their Washington, DC suburbs to Brevard County to turn himself in…
