Family speaks out to keep convicted Sirloin Stockade murderer behind bars

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – It’s been nearly 48 years since six innocent lives were taken.

On July 16, 1978, six employees at the Sirloin Stockade in Oklahoma City were murdered by Roger Dale Stafford, his wife, Verna Stafford, and his brother, Harold Stafford.

The victims’ ages ranged from 15-years-old to 56-years-old; one of the victims was 17-year-old Anthony Tew.

“He was a good kid, working a summer job to save up for a promise ring for his girlfriend. In fact, he wasn’t even supposed to be working the night he was killed. He stepped in to cover for someone who had called out of work,” said Elizabeth Payne, Anthony’s niece.
