Drought worsens, but showers are in the forecast

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — We knew temperatures would remain hot after Wednesday’s cold front, but we didn’t expect it to be even hotter and tie records! Oklahoma City topped out at 107 degrees, which BROKE the record of 106 from 2023. This makes Thursday the 24th 100-degree day this year! This is also as we received the latest drought monitor, showing many locations slipping deeper into drought. These hot temperatures will continue into early next week, but another cold front could take the edge off and cool us down slightly into the 90s. If there is any good news, it’s that we could have a few more chances of rain. It may not amount to much, but it could provide some temporary relief.

AN EXTREME HEAT WARNING and HEAT ADVISORY remains in effect until 9:00 PM Friday evening due to the hot temperatures over 104 and heat indices up to 110.
