MIDWEST CITY, Okla. ( KFOR ) — The sound and sight will stick with neighbors on SE 6th Street in Midwest City.
A fiery home explosion was felt by Doug Tippett and his uncle John Terpening.
“Next thing I know, BOOM!” said Tippett.
“Its crazy,” said Terpening.
Terpening had just walked inside his home when his nephew started screaming for him to call for help.
“He opened the door and he said the neighbor’s house blew up!” said Terpening. “The smoke was just barreling out of it.”
New surveillance footage from a neighboring home shows Terpening, Tippett and others going over to help.
“Both of us walked over there to see if we could kick in that door in the backyard,” explained Tippett. “I said, there’s a dog in that bedroom!”

No one was inside the home when it blew up. However, knowing there were dogs inside, the men along with other neighbors worked together to save it.
“We peeled all the glass back,” explained Terpening. “We pulled him out of that front window.”
