‘MasterChef’ judge Tiffany Derry visits OKC for collaboration with chef Kevin Lee
OKLAHOMA CITY – Celebrity chef and MasterChef judge Tiffany Derry brought her culinary talents to Oklahoma City this week for a special collaboration dinner with a local chef.
Derry joined chef Kevin Lee at MAHT for a sold-out event that drew a packed crowd of diners, and News 9 spoke to Derry to learn more about the event, her rise to celebrity status and her love for cooking.
What is this collaboration with Kevin Lee?
Derry: So I came to Oklahoma to team up with my good friend Kevin Lee, who has, of course, Birdie’s and MAHT here in Oklahoma City. We had dinner at MAHT last night, and it was fabulous. A house full of people. Everyone came out, they ate great, and we had a good time.
How did you get into cooking?
Derry: I grew up around food, so my grandmother had 11 children. I have six brothers and sisters, so food has always been very big in our lives, more than the average person, in terms of how we eat and how we socialize. I went to culinary school essentially, and then eventually started working all around. I did Top Chef as the first show, and that was kind of the very first start in the TV world, and that just opened up something fantastic…
