Omaha pays $300K to demolish abandoned southwest hotel

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The city of Omaha will pay $300,000 to tear down an abandoned southwest Omaha hotel, ending a legal fight that could have dragged on for years.

The city council approved using Keno Community Betterment funds to make a deal with the out-of-town property owner. The agreement gives the developer a clean site ready for development without a lien on the property.

Work crews began demolishing the old Westmont Inn and Suites, removing what neighbors have called an eyesore for years.
