Over 7,000 without power in the metro Thursday morning

DES MOINES, Iowa — Over 7,000 people are without power in the metro area Thursday morning after severe storms blew through.

Damaging winds expected as more storms roll through central Iowa

According to the MidAmerican Energy Company Outage Map, as of 8: 15 a.m., 7,545 people are without power following severe storms, with the majority being in Des Moines. MidAmerica also reports that over 5,400 are without power in the Council Bluffs area of western Iowa.
