OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The number of cyclospora cases in Douglas County has risen from 27 to 35, according to the Douglas County Health Department. The source of the local outbreak has not been identified.
Health Director Dr. Lindsay Huse said approximately half of the people interviewed reported eating at a Taco Bell, raising questions about whether the restaurant or its supply chain is connected to the outbreak.
“So really what that indicates to me is that it’s not just something that Taco Bell has purchased but potentially is more widely in our food chain somewhere,” Huse said. “It is something that is actively being investigated. Taco Bell did pull their products as soon as they suspected that was an issue.”…
