OPD: Pedestrian not in crosswalk when hit by car in North Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The man hit by a car on Ames Avenue on Tuesday wasn’t in a crosswalk, according to an OPD investigators.

Omaha Police were called to the scene near 31st Street and Ames Avenue just before 11 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators shut down traffic on Ames Avenue in both directions between 30th to 31st streets.

In Wednesday’s update, OPD said Omaha Fire Department medics took the 54-year-old man to Nebraska Medicine with critical injuries.

Investigators determined the man crossing Ames Avenue when he was hit by a Honda Civic traveling east at 10:54 a.m. Tuesday, but was not using a crosswalk…
