OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – A local nonprofit is now offering a weekly housing stability clinic in Council Bluffs, giving residents a place to find help with rental assistance, utility bills, permanent housing and more.
Together, which already hosts a similar clinic in Omaha, expanded the service to Iowa to bring resources directly to Council Bluffs residents. The clinic connects people with experts who can walk them through options whether they are overdue on rent or utility bills, searching for permanent housing or fleeing a domestic violence situation.
‘Hear the household out’
Tina Murray, executive VP of impact at Together, said the goal is to make sure every person who walks in leaves connected to some kind of resource.
“We want people to be able to enjoy their life but sometimes just to get through this hard time we need to do A, B and C,” Murray said. “So it is really intentional and really just trying to hear the household out, which is really important and to make sure when they leave here they get connected to some kind of resource even if it isn’t us.”…
