Wanted Man Suspected in South Dakota Homicide Found Dead After Stand-off in Council Bluffs

(Council Bluffs) Council Bluffs police say a wanted man suspected in a South Dakota homicide was found dead Sunday evening from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a standoff at a Madison Avenue home.

According to the press release, at around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday (August 16), Council Bluffs Police Officers, with members of the Metro Area Fugitive Task Force, responded to 1201 Madison Avenue to check the location for a wanted subject. James Leroy Perdue III had active Parole Violation Warrants through the state of Iowa. Additionally, responding officers received information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that Perdue III was a suspect in a homicide that occurred in South Dakota on August 15. He was considered armed and dangerous. About one hour later, it was determined he was inside the home.
