OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The FDA has approved a new blood test that screens patients for colorectal cancer. CHI Health says the test is not as effective as a colonoscopy.
Test has limits, doctor says
CHI Health says the Simple Screen CRC blood test is limited in how much it can alert patients to problems before they occur.
Dr. Bob Kizer, a gastroenterologist with CHI Health, explained the difference between the two screening methods.
“Whereas colonoscopies can detect polyps before they turn cancerous, these blood tests primarily detect cancer, meaning they find when you already have a cancer and it needs to be treated,” Kizer said…
