OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Tax increment financing projects have become increasingly controversial in Omaha, including projects like the Center Mall and Saddle Creek redevelopments. People are worried the city is handing public funding to apartment builds that are expensive and push people out of affordable neighborhoods.
Next Tuesday, city council members will vote on a resolution some say is a step toward fixing that issue.
What the resolution includes
The city council is expected to vote on a resolution from the planning department that has been in the works for months. It includes two categories of recommendations.
