Nebraska State Patrol, FBI outline safety measures for State Fair

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) – The Nebraska State Patrol and the Omaha FBI field office discussed their partnership and cooperation with outside agencies to help make the Nebraska State Fair safer during a press conference Friday.

Nebraska State Patrol Col. Bryan Waugh said one of the best ways people can stay safe at the fair is by reporting any suspected crimes to police.

“A lot of times what we find is that during an emergency, some people may not feel comfortable calling 9-1-1 because maybe they’re thinking someone else will,” Waugh said. “Never assume that. Make the call. It’s fine. You’re not going to overwhelm our resources, you’re not going to overwhelm our phone lines. Technology is a wonderful thing, we have the capability to take those calls and we can take multiple calls.”…
