Southwest Iowa drivers warned of slick roads Tuesday morning as light snow moves in

The National Weather Service office in Omaha is warning that a narrow band of snow and rapidly falling temperatures could create slick roads for the Tuesday morning commute in parts of southwest Iowa, including Page County. The latest briefing highlights a 40 to 60 percent chance of around 1 inch of snow in a corridor from eastern Nebraska into western Iowa.

According to forecasters, temperatures are expected to fall below freezing quickly as the snow develops, increasing the risk that any accumulation will stick to untreated roadways, bridges and overpasses. The weather service is urging drivers to allow extra time for travel Tuesday morning and to be prepared for changing pavement conditions.

The National Weather Service shows the highest potential for 1 inch of snow centered over the Omaha and Lincoln areas, with lower but still notable chances extending into adjacent parts of western Iowa.
