Sunday Storms Affect Nebraska and Iowa

(Area) — Thunderstorms rolled through eastern Nebraska and western Iowa on Sunday. The storms left 8,000 residents around the Omaha area without power, mainly in the South Omaha area.

There was a reported tornado that touched down near Plattsmouth, NE and another one in Glenwood, IA about 11 miles southeast of Offutt Air Force Base, around 9 p.m. No damage has been reported. Tornado warnings were issued in Montgomery, Pottawattamie, and Mills Counties but were allowed to expire at 9:45 pm and no further tornado warnings were issued as the storm moved east.

There was also a tornado in St. Libory in central Nebraska that did significant damage — there was one home that was swept clean and two other homes suffered major damage. No injuries were reported…
