Omaha streetcar construction reaches most disruptive phase ahead of Berkshire meeting

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Streetcar officials held a briefing Wednesday as the construction project reaches its most disruptive phase, one week before tens of thousands of Berkshire Hathaway visitors are expected downtown.

Crews are digging up streets across multiple districts, replacing water lines, sewer lines and underground utilities some more than 100 years old. All of the work must be completed before track goes in the ground.

Project leaders call this the thick of it, and it is happening as Omaha prepares for one of its biggest tourist weekends of the year…
