OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The world’s largest operating steam locomotive is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a coast-to-coast tour that includes stop all across Nebraska at the end of May.
Last year’s tour brought the commemorative Big Boy No. 1616 Abraham Lincoln train to the College World Series. This year, No. 4014 will make a whistle stop in Kimball, Neb., at about 1 p.m. local time on Monday, May 25; and cross into Iowa on Sunday, May 31.
On the days in between, you can catch up with Big Boy at whistle stops in Ogallala, Gothenburg, Overton, Kearney, Grand Island, Columbus, and finally in Omaha. The locomotive will also have stops in Sidney and North Platte, but for private events for UP employees.
Check the schedule for planned stop times, but UP notes the train could experience delays.…
