Orange County wants public input on possible stormwater utility fee

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County is considering a stormwater utility fee to help fund long-term improvements for localized flooding, water quality and stormwater runoff, with county staff seeking public input before commissioners decide whether to move forward.

County officials said no rate has been set, and no final decision has been made. A $10 monthly fee would generate about $55 million per year, roughly five times the county’s current budget for stormwater improvements, they said. Orange County adopted a stormwater utility ordinance 30 years ago, but the fee was set at $0 and has not changed since then.
