Orlando Police have arrested a man they say shot and seriously wounded a MetroWest resident during a chaotic confrontation that left another man dead this past March. Alan Vernon Florvilus, 24, was apprehended in Tampa, roughly 80 miles from the scene of the shooting, nearly five months after the incident unfolded outside The Palms Club Orlando condominium and apartment complex.
According to Orlando Police, detectives determined that Florvilus shot and seriously wounded Roderick Barron during the March 4 confrontation, which also left Howard Bennett dead. The shooting happened at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the 5500 block of MetroWest Boulevard, according to WKMG ClickOrlando, which reported that responding officers found one person dead at the scene and transported a second, injured victim to a nearby hospital. Investigators say the confrontation involved multiple parties and multiple gunshots. According to detectives, Howard Bennett attempted to draw a firearm on Roderick Barron, prompting Barron to fire in what investigators determined was self-defense. Separately, detectives determined that Florvilus shot and seriously wounded Barron before fleeing the area, and he now faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder…
