KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man was charged in federal court on Wednesday for having what the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) calls an “unregistered destructive device.”
According to the DOJ, 26-year-old Lake Roberts is being charged with one count of possession of unregistered destructive devices. That charge accuses Roberts of communicating plans to harm government agents, entities and properties with others in a group chat called “Red Legs.”
The DOJ says that Roberts is accused of saying things in that group chat like, “We need to plan decisive action against ice and dhs,” “I like the idea of using drones carrying cocktails to demolish key structures” and “If ice moves to kc, thoughts on an armed response.”…
