Improving I-35, 71 Hwy while reconnecting neighborhoods focus of $1M grant

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The Missouri Department of Transportation and Kansas City received $1 million to come up with a plan to improve US 71 Highway and Interstate 35.

The improvements are to address how to reconnect the neighborhoods that were divided by the two highways decades ago.

A federal grant will pay for outside experts to evaluate financing options and create two strategies to address the issue. Community input will also be consulted through public workshops…
