Christopher Mullen first court appearance in connection with 2022 cold case homicide

JOPLIN, Mo. — Christopher Mullen, 43, of Kansas City, Missouri, is making his first court appearance in connection with a 2022 cold case.

Mullen is being arraigned on charges of second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action today at the Jasper County courthouse, where he is currently being held on no bail.

Joplin police arrested Mullen at a Kansas City Department of Corrections facility last week in connection with the May 2022 shooting that left Kenneth Matthews, 47, of Webb City, dead, and Kristopher Culbertson, 27, injured.
