Powerful thunderstorms that light up the skies with flashes of lightning followed by booming thunder dumped several inches of rain across the Kansas City metro, according to rainfall totals.
The highest amount was at Kansas City International Airport (MCI), which reported 3.45 inches of rain in the 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. Wednesday, according to the automated weather reporting station at the airport.
