No, a deputy chief isn’t coming: Overland Park police warn of phone scam

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) – Overland Park officials are warning residents about scammers who are calling and impersonating police officers in an effort to scam money.

Police said callers are telling residents they missed a court date and that a warrant has been issued for their arrest. The callers then demand immediate payment for “bail,” often asking for Bitcoin, other cryptocurrency or gift cards to “clear the case.”
