Sixth fire in the last two years at Pensacola recycling center

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) — The Pensacola Fire Department responded to a fire at a recycling center at Bayou Chico.

According to a PFD Facebook post, officials responded to the fire call on Monday, June 3, at EMR Southern Recycling on 1000 Myrick Street.

Officials said the Escambia County Emergency Management and hazardous-materials crews were also called to the incident. They say the fire appeared to involve mostly aluminum.

The fire was reportedly in a different area of the facility than a similar fire earlier this year.
