Church in Lillian targeted in repeated vandalism; statues damaged, decapitated

LILLIAN, Ala. (WALA) – A church in Lillian has been targeted in a series of vandalism incidents, and investigators are now looking for answers. The Archdiocese of Mobile says the incidents are occurring at St. Joseph Parish.

On June 25, a Marian statue on the east side of the church was broken and a statue of St. Joseph was knocked over. About three weeks later, on July 11, a statue of the Blessed Mother in front of the parish hall was vandalized — someone decapitated the statue.

The church filed reports on both incidents with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, which is now investigating. Investigators have not identified any suspects or a motive…
