Summery thunderstorms developing most days

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Good Monday afternoon everyone! It’s another toasty day ahead with limited afternoon showers or storms to cool us off. However, the summery pattern of afternoon storms ramps up throughout this week and that will help limit our extreme heat.

***A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Escambia Counties in the far western tip of the Florida Panhandle until 7pm CDT. Storms moving out of Alabama and Mississippi this afternoon or into the evening will have potential for creating damaging wind gusts or hail.

***A Heat Advisory in place for areas along and south of Hwy20 on down to the coast in NWFL today. Heat indices will reach up to 110-112° for most with isolated spots possibly higher. Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
