IOWA (KHQA) – You usually see aircraft in the sky, but that’s not the case for one special delivery that made its way through the Tri-State over the weekend on the back of a semi to its final destination in Colorado.
The company Worldwide Aircraft Recovery has been transporting a disassembled 22-foot-wide F-14 Tomcat supersonic fighter jet to the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum in Pueblo, Colorado. It’s even wider with its wings on. You might recognize it from the movie Top Gun, but this model was actually used by the U.S. Navy until around 2006 — and it can be hard to find nowadays.
“They’ve destroyed a lot of them, so that these Middle Eastern countries could not get a hold of parts or information about how to maintain them. So, there are not that many left in the United States,” said Jeannie Sandidge, president of the Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum…
