FEMA Announces Millions for Flood Projects Across Southeast, Including Alabama

Millions of dollars are headed to communities across the Southeast as FEMA rolls out new funding aimed at reducing flood risks.

The agency announced $19.9 million for projects in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, and South Carolina as part of a larger $250 million investment supporting more than 100 flood mitigation efforts nationwide.

In Alabama, $1.5 million will go toward buying and demolishing four flood-prone properties in Hoover. Officials say removing these homes—two of which were covered under the National Flood Insurance Program—will help prevent future flood damage and eliminate repeated insurance claims…
