Fallen Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies honored in memorial ceremony

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — A remembrance ceremony was held Monday for Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies killed in the line of duty, honoring the lives of the 16 deputies and two K-9s that were killed, ranging from 2025 back to 1893.

“Every day [these families] live with a loss, some for five years, some for 45 years,” Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons said.

  • Constable William Rigby, EOW 1955
  • Patrolman Roland Davis Jr., EOW 1955
  • Deputy Len Adams, EOW 1958
  • Deputy Joseph Gassman, EOW 1966
  • Deputy Charles Wilkinson, EOW 1974
  • Deputy Morley “Buddy” Ray, EOW 1978
  • Deputy Floyd “Doug” Heist, Sr., EOW 1980
  • Corporal Eric Streeter, EOW 1984
  • Deputy Don Cook, EOW 1988
  • Srgt. Roosevelt Walker, Jr., EOW 1998
