PHILADELPHIA Philadelphia police are investigating a string of violent incidents that occurred between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, resulting in two deaths and two injuries across the city.

What we know:

The violence began when officers responded to reports of a shooting at the intersection of Wakeling and Jackson streets around 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

A 64-year-old man was found unresponsive on the highway with a gunshot wound to the face. Medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. A 39-year-old man who was present at the scene was taken into custody for questioning by the Homicide Unit. Police recovered two handguns at the scene, and charges are currently pending.
