Police: Man stole shopper’s wallet, bought more than $2,100 in gift cards

Cellphone records allegedly placed the suspect in Montgomery Township and showed calls to a gift-card activation number

A Philadelphia man is facing multiple felony charges after Montgomery Township Police alleged he stole a 77-year-old shopper’s wallet at HomeGoods and used her credit card to purchase more than $2,100 in prepaid gift cards.

Dion Allen, 61, of the 4800 block of North Bouvier Street, was charged with a felony count each of identity theft, receiving stolen property, and theft by unlawful taking, two felony counts of access device fraud, and misdemeanor possessing a counterfeit access device, per court records.
