PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — The warning period is over. Now, drivers who zip through these five Philadelphia school zones will have to pay up.
The speed cameras, which look like refrigerator-sized boxes, are placed at Sayre High School and School of the Future in West Philadelphia, and Stetson Middle School, KIPP North Philadelphia Charter and Widener Memorial in North Philadelphia.
The cameras are switched on when the lights are flashing before the start and at the end of each school day. Drivers caught going at least 11 miles over the 15 mph speed limit will now face fines starting at $100. Twenty to 29 miles over the limit is a $125 fine, and 30 or more miles over is $150…
