Man attempts to hide in dumpster trying to evade police, resist arrest, authorities say

A routine traffic stop on Feb. 22, 2026, escalated into a foot chase, multi-vehicle flight, and subsequent criminal charges, according to an affidavit filed by the Whitemarsh Township Police Department.

A police officer from the Whitemarsh Police Department initiated a traffic stop at approximately 12:59 p.m. near Germantown Pike and Joshua Road. The stop involved a blue Chevrolet Equinox with Pennsylvania registration for an alleged careless lane violation.

According to police, the vehicle contained two occupants and pulled into a driveway on the 400 block of Germantown Pike. As the officer approached, a male suspect exited the driver’s seat and moved toward the passenger side of the vehicle, while the female occupant shifted into the driver’s seat…
