Philadelphia man sentenced for role in Abington gunpoint home invasion robbery

NORRISTOWN — A Philadelphia man who earlier this month cooperated with authorities and testified against his co-conspirator in a gunpoint home invasion robbery of an Abington Township family received a time served sentence and a lengthy probationary period.

“His cooperation was extremely meaningful for the Commonwealth. He does deserve credit for his cooperation,” Montgomery County Judge William R. Carpenter said on Friday as he sentenced Jalen Douglas-Smith to what amounted to a 15-to-23-month time served sentence in connection with his role in the Dec. 2, 2024, home invasion at a residence in the 200 block of Cedar Road in the Elkins Park section of Abington.

With a consecutive three years of probation, the sentence means Douglas-Smith will be under court supervision for five years…
