Phoenix’s enhanced fireworks restrictions now in effect

New stricter fireworks laws are now in effect in the city of Phoenix, as of June 20.

As part of fireworks code changes recently adopted by city council, the city of Phoenix can activate additional fireworks restrictions when a Stage 1 or higher fire restriction condition is identified.

The restrictions are in alignment with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Management’s Stage 1 restrictions currently in place and are aimed at reducing the risk of fires sparked by permissible consumer fireworks, which pose heightened danger during hot, dry conditions. According to Phoenix City Code § 23-44.2(C), Stage 1 Fire Restrictions prohibit the use of permissible consumer fireworks within a one-mile radius of any municipal or county mountain preserve, desert park, regional park, conservation area, national forest or wilderness area…
