Decades-old Phoenix pizza shop being forced out for convenience store

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Raffaele’s Pizza off 19th Avenue and Glendale Avenue has been in the neighborhood since the 1970s. Its owner says they’re being forced to close up shop with a much larger development set to take its place.

The shop sits in a strip mall behind the 7-Eleven. If all goes as planned, it will soon be demolished to make room for an expanded convenience store.

Decades of dedication

Billy Burns, owner of Raffaele’s Pizza, said he received a notice to vacate a few weeks ago.

“It’s my whole life, this is all I’ve done, this is what I know,” Burns said…
