The West Wind Drive-In in Glendale is a beloved landmark in the Valley, offering a slice of Americana that feels nostalgic. Between their events and their movies, the drive-in is a MUST for any family in the Valley who hasn’t been!
As one of the few remaining drive-ins in the country, the Glendale Drive In serves as a hub where families and movie buffs gather under the desert sky. Whether you’re packed in as a family snuggled amongst blankets and stuffies, or heading to the snack bar for some classic popcorn, the atmosphere is laid-back and festive; maintaining that 1950s charm while keeping up with the demands of modern family needs.
While the experience feels vintage, the technology is not. The theater has transitioned fully to digital projection, but the real game-changer is the introduction of Laser Extreme (LX) on select screens. Watching the new Mario movie with laser technology really changed the whole experience for us! The screen was crisp!
While we didn’t go on a movie fun night, the drive in is now hosting Family Fun Nights on Tuesday! These nights and events are best checked through their website, but they offer discounted tickets; $2 for kids and $2 nachos! They often have bounce houses at these family movie events; be prepared to get there as EARLY as possible if you’re going on a Family Movie Night.
For a regular weekend night, it’s still advisable to show up as early as possible to your movie time; that is, if it matters where you view the screen! We love to drive our hatchback so we can stuff the kids in the car with blankets and stuffies, while also bringing our own lawn chairs. Tuning into the radio and making friends with the car next to you is also a huge part of the fun!…
