Peoria Parking Lot Horror: Man Critical, Suspected Shooter Found Dead

A midday shooting in a Peoria business parking lot on Friday left a man clinging to life and ended with the suspected gunwoman dead from what police say appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers found the wounded man inside a vehicle and rushed him to a hospital, while detectives now work to unravel what they describe as a relationship between the two.

What police said

According to ABC15 Arizona, officers were called around 12 p.m. to the area of El Mirage Road and Vistancia Boulevard, where they found a man inside a car with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Investigators told ABC15 Arizona the suspect, described as a woman and already identified by police, left the parking lot before officers arrived. She was later located and pronounced dead from what authorities say appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigation continues

Police say there is no current threat to the public, and detectives told ABC15 Arizona they believe the man and woman were connected through a relationship of some sort. A possible motive has not been released.

Detectives are canvassing the business where the shooting took place and checking for any available surveillance footage that could help piece together what led up to the gunfire. Names of those involved have not yet been made public.
