Time winding down for chance to name Pittsburgh Zoo’s new lion cub

Ever wanted to name a lion? For $5, you can help do just that.

Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium’s female lion cub, born in April of this year, is still without a name. That’s why the zoo is asking for suggestions from the public to help “Dub the Cub.” For a donation of $5, name ideas can be submitted through the zoo’s website.

How do I suggest a name for Pittsburgh Zoo’s lion cub?

Name suggestions can be submitted online with a donation of $5 per entry through Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium’s website. Submissions can be made now through Friday, July 17.

“Whether inspired by her regal heritage, her emerging purr-sonality, or pure imagination, entries are welcome from lion lovers of all ages,” the zoo said in a June 16 statement.

Zoo staff will vet the top names and make a final selection, then announce the name on social media.
