Christopher Lambert, the actor best known for playing immortal swordsman Connor MacLeod in the Highlander franchise, collapsed while signing autographs at Steel City Con in Monroeville over the weekend and was transported by ambulance from the convention hall. His representative says the 69-year-old actor is now resting in his hotel room and is expected to be okay.
The incident happened during Lambert’s appearance at the three-day pop culture convention, which organizers confirmed had to cancel his scheduled photo opportunities after he was forced to leave due to a medical issue, according to a statement posted by Steel City Con on its Facebook page. As of that post, the actor’s return time to the convention remained to be determined. Per a report from TMZ, Lambert’s representative attributed the collapse to a drop in blood sugar caused by a lack of sleep and food, explaining that the actor had eaten little during the day and had gotten little rest the night before.
Lambert had been scheduled to host a dedicated fan Q&A panel on Sunday afternoon as part of the convention’s official program, and per TMZ’s report, he may still attend the con on Sunday. His representative described him as “perfectly ok” following the episode, per the same TMZ report.
