Food for the Soul Community Garden grows friends and fellowship

Say what you will about Pittsburgh’s erratic weather, but the late summer harvest at Food for the Soul Community Garden has proven to be unusually abundant.

The neatly-tended rows and beds covering a fifth of an acre at the corner of Fulton and Juniata Streets in Manchester have yielded copious amounts of cabbage, tomatoes, potatoes, herbs, greens, eggplant, zucchini, red peppers, green peppers, banana peppers, Brussels sprouts, Swiss chard, cucumbers, pumpkin, mixed early spring lettuce, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, zinnias, impatiens and marigolds.
