New Video Shows Gunman Move In on McKeesport Teen Before Deadly Shooting

Allegheny County Police on Friday released new surveillance video and renewed their call for help in the unsolved 2022 killing of a McKeesport teenager. The clips focus on the final moments before an unidentified man walked up to two teens outside a convenience store and opened fire, killing 16-year-old Chance Naylor and critically wounding another student. Detectives say they are hoping the fresh look at the footage will push anyone with information to call the county tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.

Investigators described the release as a new effort to put eyes on the suspect. The video, captured from several cameras, shows the gunman approach the teens and start shooting, according to WPXI. The station reported on May 1 that no arrests have been made, and police have not identified a suspect by name. They are urging anyone who recognizes the person in the video to come forward.

What Happened in 2022

The shooting took place in December 2022. Local coverage at the time said the attack occurred on Dec. 13 outside the Uni-Mart on the 3400 block of Versailles Avenue, where witnesses and store cameras captured the encounter, as reported by WTAE. Video from that night showed the shooter stepping out from behind an ice machine and firing multiple rounds, hitting both teens.

Since the killing, Chance’s family has repeatedly called for answers. His father described him as a quiet student and has pleaded publicly for anyone who knows who pulled the trigger to speak up, WPXI reported.
