Dry Taps And Handcuffs: Late-Night Florida Water Plant Crash Leaves Hundreds Parched

A late-night car crash into a Hobe Sound water treatment plant last week left hundreds of local residents without water service and facing low water pressure, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office. The driver, who initially fled the scene on foot, has since been located and arrested.

The incident occurred Wednesday around 9:00 p.m. when a vehicle slammed into a large pipe at the Hobe Sound/Osprey Water Plant. A nearby resident reported hearing a loud crash and later saw a man sitting outside the damaged area. According to the witness, the man repeatedly muttered, “I messed up,” before running away from the facility.
